Varlam Makharoblidze Historical Museum in Tsageri

Varlam Makharoblidze Historical Museum in Tsageri safeguards a remarkable collection of artifacts uncovered during archaeological excavations in Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti, spanning the Early and Late Bronze Ages through the Antique period. Highlights include a bronze horseman, a bronze treasure, stylized Eastern and Colchian bronze axes, a Caucasian sickle, a Hittite bridle, and Stone Age tools such as ax-scrapers, arrowheads, axes, and knives. Its numismatic collection features rare coins, including those of Alexander the Great, a gold stater of Lysimachus, Roman coins of Octavian and Hadrian, as well as Arab and Turkish currency. The museum also exhibits 17th-19th century church artifacts, a Wawel-type helmet, rare publications, and the unique historical photographs of Lechkhumi.

The Museum extends its reach through branch museums, including the Lado Asatiani House Museum in Bardnala, the Severian Isiani House Museum in Zogishi, and the Archil Gelovani House Museum in Spatagori, preserving both tangible heritage and the living memory of the region.
